A man remains in hospital after he was seriously assaulted during a bar fight at the weekend.

The 21-year-old suffered serious injuries following the fight in the early hours of Saturday morning (July 25).

Police were called to a bar in Runcorn at around 1.43am.

When officers arrived at the Alchemy bar in High Street they discovered that a serious altercation had taken place.

Paramedics were also treating the 21-year-old man when officers arrived.

The man was taken to hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a section 19 assault and is currently in custody.

DC John Ellis, of Cheshire police, said: "We’re still piecing together events from that night and are appealing to anyone who saw the incident to contact police.

"During the incident the victim’s mobile phone also went missing. If anyone found a Huawei P6 in the pub or High Street, please make contact with police."
